Technique for Beginner and Intermediate Violinists

By Ambi Subramaniam

In this masterclass, I will focus mainly of technique – both left and right hand.

As is the case with any musical instrument, one of the most important parts of playing the violin is a solid technique. With the help of good technique, you will be able to play and execute the ideas you have in mind better.

Here are some of the topics I plan to cover:

- Improving your tone

- Improving bowing clarity and precision while changing strings and octaves

- Improving speed and accuracy using different types of bowing movements

- Improving your sliding technique with the left-hand

- Improving left-hand shifting between different positions

- Practice tips and exercises for all of the above

This masterclass is for beginners and intermediate violinists playing any style of the violin. Please send in your questions, and I will try to answer all of them during the class.
